How to Play
Most of the time, Pretty Pretty Ponies Prance and Play in the Park! But, sometimes, they need to band together to stop the Evil Creatures that want to harm Ponyland! So the Ponies get together, and go on an Adventure! You will need at least yourself, and a Stablemaster (SM) to run the Adventure for you!
Using your Abilities
Whenever you want to use one of your Pony Abilities, take a number of dice equal to the Attribute your ability is linked to (such as ‘Will’for the ‘Stubborn’ability) plus an addtional die, and roll them. Each 5 or 6 you roll is a Success! The more successes you have, the better you did!
If you do not have an Ability, don’t worry! You can always roll at least one die!
For example, Princess Neverlost has an Allure of 4 and wants to convince her rival Princess Merrythought (Will of 3) to invite her to the next Princess Gala. Neverlost rolls 4d6 to use her Ability ‘Entrance’, opposed by Merrythought’s 3d6 for Will. Neverlost has 2 successes and Merrythought has none, so she invites Neverlost to the gala.
Using your Powers
Every Pony has at least one special Power! During an encounter with other creatures, you can use your Power, whenever you want! But, remember: You can only use your power once each time you play, so be sure and save your Power for when it is most important! If a Pony uses her Shimmer power when entering a gala, the Power will last until she leaves the party. If a Pony casts her Wings Power to win a fight, the Power lasts the duration of the fight and no longer. Using a Power does not take an Action!
Encounters
Sometimes, your Pony will encounter other creatures, and has to bump and battle, to save Ponyland!
Initative
Roll a number of dice equal to your Pony’s Movement, and add them together. The highest roll goes first, and ties are broken by Movement scores. If there is still a tie, roll dice to see who goes first.
Every Pony can do two things on their turn: They can Move, and they can do an Action. They can also activate a Power, but this does not take an Action.
Movement
Every pony can move 4 inches plus twice your Pony’s Movement Attribute. So, if your pony have a Movement of 2, they can move eight inches on their turn!
Actions
Ponies can do a lot of things on their turn!
- Move Again – Take another Move!
- Use Ability – Use a Pony’s Ability to do something!
- Kick - Roll your Will versus the other creature’s Movement. If you have more successes, you Bruise the other creature!
- Bump - Roll your Will versus the other creature’s Movement. If you have more successes, you can move the other creature up to six inches away from you!
- Charge – If your Pony has a Horn, you can Charge! Roll your Will versus the other creature’s Movement. If you have more successes, you can move the other creature up to six inches away from you, and you Bruise them!
- Flee - Sometimes, you need to run away! If your Pony is in danger, you can flee, and come back at the end of the Encounter. No-one will be mad!
Bruises
A Pony or Creature can take up to twice their Will Attribute in bruises, before being knocked out. Creatures are never killed, they are just knocked out, or flee.
Bruises heal at the rate of one per session. Food or Magic Items can increase this, or heal Bruises entirely!
A Pony can use the Heal Ability to remove Bruises! For every Success, they remove one Bruise from the Pony or Creature being healed.
Experience
Ponies gain experience when they go on Adventures in Ponyland! For each time you play, you gain 1 Sparkle Point! If you and your Pony Friends achieve a Goal, you’ll get another Point! Finally, the Stablemaster has the option to award Sparkle Points for Exceptional Adventures!
Spending Sparkle Points
You can give your Pony better Attributes, or give them more Abilities! Sometimes, you can even gain another Pony Power! Here’s what you can spend Sparkle Points on!
Increase a Pony’s Attribute
- Bumping a 1 to 2 takes 1 Sparkle Point (SP)
- Bumping a 2 to 3 takes 2 SPs
- Bumping a 3 to 4 takes 3 SPs
- Bumping a 4 to 5 takes 4 SPs
You can never bump more than one Attribute per session!
Buy a new Pony Ability
It takes three Sparkle Points to buy a new Ability! You can only add one Ability per session!
Buy a new Pony Power
This is a very special thing, and it takes your Stablemaster’s permission! If your Stablemaster allows it, it costs ten Sparkle Points! This is usually the center of a whole episode! As above, you can only by one new Pony Power for a given session.
